After 29 years of great times and wonderful experiences I have decided to follow my dreams and evolve Mao Tai.
Mao Tai has closed and Takahashi is opening.
Takahasi is a concept developed by myself and Nobuisha Takahashi. Taka, was formally trained in Toyko for 10 years and was an ex Nobu head sushi chef both in London and Cape Town.
Takahashi will be a vibrant and contemporary restaurant serving Japanese food. It will be a place for friends to meet and enjoy themselves whilst sharing plates of delicious and beautifully prepared food from tempura to aromatic grilled meats, fish and vegetables from our new Robata charcoal grill to mouth watering sushi and sashimi freshly prepared at the sushi bar where you can sit, eat and watch the talented Taka and his fellow sushi chefs at work.
We will be carrying over some of the Mao Tai classics onto the new menu, but most importantly I just want to reassure everyone that I am retaining our very popular cocktail bar at which I intend to carry on spending far too much time!!
Takahashi will be opening at the end of may. We will be open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner and Saturday and Sunday for lunch. Keep an eye out on this page for further updates or follow us on the Mao Tai facebook page whilst we undergo our transformation to Takahashi
